LVT is a multi-layer product with a rigid core, a high-definition wear layer and an embossed surface. Cheap sheet vinyl is a single-layer product — thinner, less durable, and far less realistic. Karndean and Amtico are the market-leading LVT brands in the UK.
Yes — fully waterproof. LVT does not absorb moisture and will not swell or lift from water exposure. It is a better choice for bathrooms than laminate or most other floor coverings.
Glue-down is the manufacturer-recommended method for Karndean and Amtico in most applications. A full-bed installation is more stable, quieter and less likely to edge-lift than click-lock. We default to glue-down where the subfloor allows.
Sometimes — if the tiles are all fully bonded (no hollow or cracked tiles) and the added height does not create problems at doorways. We check this at the survey.
Yes. Individual tiles and planks can be replaced without disturbing the rest of the floor. We recommend keeping spare tiles from the original batch, as ranges are updated and exact matches may not be available later.
