A carpet that lasts 20 years
starts with the underlay, not the pile.

Wool and synthetic carpets for bedrooms, living rooms and stairs. Quality underlay fitted as standard — the component most fitters skimp on and the one that decides how long the carpet actually lasts.

What we supply and fit

Four carpet types. The fitting standard never changes.

Wool or synthetic, bedroom or stairs — the same gripper rod, the same power stretching, the same quality underlay on every job.

Wool Carpet

Natural wool is the premium choice — it is warm, resilient, takes colour well and lasts significantly longer than synthetic. The right specification for master bedrooms, studies and reception rooms.

Premium

Wool-Blend & Synthetic

An 80/20 wool-synthetic blend gives most of the performance of pure wool at a lower price point. Pure synthetic is the right choice for high-traffic areas, children's rooms and rental properties.

Value-for-money

Twist Pile

Twisted yarn construction that stands up well to foot traffic and shows fewer footmarks than loop pile. The most practical choice for hallways, landings and stairs.

High-traffic

Stair Runner

Carpeting on stairs requires precise fitting — gripper rod at every nosing, straight seams at the risers, and a runner width that works with the stair profile. A job where finish and safety both matter.

Specialist fit

Every carpet installation includes:

  • On-site measurement and planning
  • Quality underlay — minimum 8mm thick
  • Gripper rod installation at all perimeters
  • Door bar and threshold fitting
  • All stair nosing and riser work
  • Knee-kicker and power stretcher fitting
  • Snag walk-through
  • 1-year fitting guarantee
What we do differently

The things that separate a carpet that lasts from one that doesn't.

Underlay is what separates 8 years from 20

Cheap underlay compresses within two or three years. The carpet above it then has no support and wears at twice the rate. We use quality underlay on every job.

Power-stretched for a tight, lasting fit

A carpet that is not power-stretched will loosen, bubble and wrinkle within a few years. We use a power stretcher on every room — not just a knee-kicker.

Stairs fitted correctly

Stair carpeting requires gripper rod at every nosing and precise riser-to-tread fitting. A poorly fitted stair carpet is a trip hazard. We take the time to do it properly.

Samples at the survey visit

We bring a range of samples from our suppliers to the visit. You can see them in the actual room, under the actual light, before committing to a specification.

Our fitting standard

The underlay and the stretch. The two things most fitters get wrong.

Cheap underlay and a knee-kicker only are the two most common shortcuts in carpet fitting. Both are invisible on the day — and obvious within three to five years. We use quality underlay on every job and power-stretch every room. These are not premium add-ons. They are the minimum standard for a carpet that earns its cost.

Underlay minimum 8mm thick and appropriate density for the room use — not offcuts from a previous job.
Gripper rod fixed at every perimeter — screwed into timber subfloors, nailed into concrete with masonry nails.
Power stretcher used on every room — not just a knee-kicker. Eliminates future bubbling and loosening.
Seams placed in low-visibility positions — never across doorways or in direct sightlines from the main entrance.
Stair nosings fitted with gripper rod at every tread — a safety requirement, not an optional extra.
How we work

Six steps from measurement to a finished carpet.

01

Site measurement & specification

We measure every room precisely, accounting for doorways, alcoves and any awkward shapes. We advise on pile direction, seam placement and the underlay specification for each room's use.

Free visit, 30–45 minutes
02

Material selection

We bring samples to the survey visit. Wool, wool-blend and synthetic options across a range of pile weights and textures. A fixed quote is issued within three working days.

03

Subfloor preparation

Gripper rod nailed at every perimeter. Any loose or squeaky floorboards screwed down. Staples and debris from previous carpet removed. The subfloor needs to be clean and flat before underlay goes in.

Half a day typically
04

Underlay fitting

Quality underlay laid and stapled flat. Butt-joined seams at the centre of rooms — never at doorways or in high-traffic lines. The underlay is what determines how long the carpet lasts.

Same day as subfloor prep
05

Carpet fitting

Carpet cut and power-stretched into position. Seams placed in low-visibility positions and butted tightly. Stairs fitted with gripper rod at every nosing and riser. Threshold bars and door bars fitted and trimmed.

1 day for a typical London flat
06

Walk-through & guarantee

Every room checked for bubbles, loose edges and straight seam lines. Doors trimmed if needed for clearance. Full walk-through with you before we leave. Written 1-year fitting guarantee issued.

Same day as completion

A selection of feedback from homeowners we have fitted carpet for across London.

Wool carpet throughout three bedrooms and the stairs. The underlay they specified is thick and proper — you can feel the difference immediately underfoot. The stair fitting is clean and tight. Really pleased.

M.O.

Crouch End, North London

They brought samples to the survey visit and helped us choose the right pile for each room. The whole job was done in a day. The bedroom carpet has been down three years and still looks like new.

F.R.

Wimbledon, South London

Used them to recarpet the whole house after a renovation. They power-stretched every room and the stair fitting is perfect — tight at every nosing. It looks professionally done because it was.

Frequently asked

Carpet installation questions, answered.

What is the difference between wool and synthetic carpet?

Wool is a natural fibre — it is warm, resilient, takes colour well and lasts longer than synthetic under normal use. It also recovers better from compression, which is why high-quality wool carpets in a bedroom can look good for twenty years or more. Synthetic carpet is less expensive and more resistant to staining, which makes it a good choice for children's rooms and rental properties. Wool-blend (80/20 wool/synthetic) gives most of the performance of pure wool at a lower price.

Why does underlay matter so much?

Underlay is what the carpet rests on and what absorbs the impact of every footstep. Cheap underlay compresses within a few years — once it is flat, the carpet has no cushioning and wears at twice the rate. A quality underlay (minimum 8mm thick, good density) extends the life of the carpet significantly. The underlay also affects how warm and sound-absorbing the floor feels underfoot.

Do you supply the carpet or can I source my own?

Both. We supply from our supplier accounts and bring samples to the visit. Or we will fit carpet you have already purchased — send us the product specification before the survey so we can confirm the correct underlay and fitting method.

Can you carpet stairs, including curved or turned stairs?

Yes. Stairs are a specialist part of the job — gripper rod at every nosing, clean riser-to-tread transitions, and a width that works with the stair profile. Curved, winder and turned stairs require more cutting time than straight flights, which is reflected in the quote. We price stairs separately so you can see exactly what each element costs.

What is power stretching and why does it matter?

Power stretching uses a lever-action tool that spans the room and pulls the carpet tight before it is locked onto the gripper rod. A knee-kicker, used on its own, does not stretch the carpet sufficiently — within a few years the carpet relaxes, loosens and forms bubbles or wrinkles. We use a power stretcher on every room.

How long does a carpet installation take?

A typical London flat — three bedrooms, a hallway and stairs — is usually done in one day, sometimes one and a half. Subfloor preparation and gripper rod work is done first. The underlay and carpet follow. We will give you a specific timeline in the quote.

Can carpet be laid over existing floorboards?

Yes — in most cases. We check the floorboards at the survey for squeaks, loose sections and structural concerns. Any problems are fixed before the underlay goes in. A noisy floorboard that is carpeted over without being fixed will still creak through the carpet — we address the cause, not the symptom.
